As anti-big governemt as I am the ACA is not all bad. We're simply too rich and too blessed a country to have millions of uninsured people running around, many of whom work and many of whom are kids. Perhaps insurance could be made a function of govenment via amendment with some long term price gaurantees from the health care system.
I know what many of you are thinking but tying insurance to employment ( good jobs only and even then cswiss cheese coverage in many cases) doesn't work well either. Before you discard ACA what would you replace it with? Because what we were doing before wasn't working and the worse the under employment because the more that showed.

The ACA is like cancer, once we get it it's around pretty much for life in one way or another.

I doubt the GOP just gets rid of it nor should they but it will get complicated. All of the quality and outcomes data stuff stays no matter what, because big brother is getting your data no matter what, and will use it against you.

What will get complicated is the expanded Medicaids. States are now realizing that they sold their soul to the feds and have to now pay the piper - the previously subsidized Medicaid costs, and they're all scrambling for funding. It's a mess.

It has to go, first of all middle class that do not get subsidies cannot afford it. The premiums and co pays have gone through the roof. Those on subsidies that get it free cant find Drs that will accept it. A large sign in my Drs office right under neath the sign saying Now Accepting new Patients for a short time. Is a sign apologizing nor taking a large list of insurers, all obamacare.
On top of that the insurer pool has dwindled down to nothing. So whats going to happen ?

Eventually people that have to pay for it cant afford it and will be uninsured and still paying a fine. You will have those with govt paid obamacare insured with no place to go.

At the minimum it has to be drastically changed or scrapped and started over.

The ACA is structured as a wealth redistribution scheme. It relied on the young and healthy paying for more insurance than they reasonably needed to subsidize the old and sick.

I always said the states should fund insurance pools for those who can't afford insurance. Obamacare totally upturned the system for everyone instead of just focusing on the problem.

Funny thing is the cost increases have little to nothing to do with healthcare costs!

The penalties rise and the costs rise so others can still get it at a discount and for free.

So for me it would only cost 700 a month on the young ladies insurance! Hell sometimes I can make 1000 a day, other-times nothing for a month.

So I could go ACA but I cannot afford it...

Look it boils down to this, I claim a hardship (one of us can not work due to my son and the school system (hell he was suspended all WEEK and has an IEP... Disability Damnit!)

So doing the math! If we got ACA for free (5000+ a year out of pocket), rent assistance or section 8, O-Phone, utility assistance, daycare... income from a part time job,

When you really do the math, many of us a getting fucked and being asked to pay more!

I believe it was more of an attempt to create more dependence upon government. Government increases their power by increasing the number of people who depend on government providing their basic needs.
