Gen David Petraeus opens door to Trump administration

Petraeus would be a good fit at State. Much better than Mitt.

He has a little bit of baggage with that affair thing but I don't think that matters in Trump's cabinet, lol. It's a bonus.

Mitt's more of a capitalist.

I think Romney needs to sit out the first Trump administration. He cannot be trusted.

I only see Romney as a fig leaf to the establishment.

Trump has already appointed enough former military people. He needs to look somewhere else.

I disagree! There is much more to military experience and those who make it above 04 have proven themselves.

We are not talking about militaristic thought we are talking about order! We have not had order in a long time.

Still we have heard all of this but what has really been done or said? A few generals? There is a lot to be done and we should have the best we can get in given positions.

Another thing, it is one thing to have some little ignorant bitch like Clinton as sec state or a lackey like Kerry but to have someone... Well...

Trump is clear! DO NOT SCREW WITH US!

I think ex-military are less likely to get us into future wars than civilians.

I think Trump is doing a pretty good job with his appointments so far, but he can look somewhere other than former military.

I'm not willing to automatically agree that a former General Officer is more likely to keep us out of military entanglements overseas. I believe a president should maintain very close relationships with his military leaders, but I would prefer to see credible diplomats in positions where diplomacy will be a requirement. Military professionals are often not effective diplomats. They are accustomed to having things their own way virtually all of the time. Leading /managing a large military command is not the same as managing a diplomatic / foreign policy mission.

When and If diplomacy fails, then lean on the military leadership. That's when their style is critical.
